12	The Japan America Society of Houston holds an annual ladies luncheon at 11:30 am at the Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Lane.
13	A young professional's networking night and Bonenkai is held at Sushi Raku, beginning at 6:00 pm. This is sponsored by the Consulate-General of Japan at Houston, the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Alumni Association (JETAA) Texoma, the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), and the Japan America Society of Houston (JASH).
15	The Houston Japanese Language Conversation Group holds a Japanese language meeting at the Cafe Kubos at 7:00 pm. Like other MeetUp events, this is organized using the MeetUp WWW site.

December 31	Experience New Years in Japan in real time via TV or radio. The Kohaku Uta Gassen New Year TV program of NHK TV is shown in Houston starting at about 7:30 am Houston time via NHK International (large dish antenna, c-band) or TV Japan (small dish antenna, ku-band) satellite broadcasts. An alternative to satellite TV is the shortwave broadcast on NHK World Radio at 11,705 kHz, which seems to start at roughly 8 am in Houston..
