March of 2010

March 3rd	The Houston Bonsai Society holds their monthly general membership meeting.
3 - 10	Sushi Club of Houston and Japan American Society of Houston, group trip to Japan from Houston.
3	Mini Opera and Classic Concert. Contact the Japanese Association of Greater Houston and the Japan Business Association of Houston for further information. Note that an RSVP by March 9th was required to attend this event.
3	A Dolls Festival event for Japanese speaking children will be held in west Houston starting at 11:00 am. Contact houstonplaydateclub (at) gmail.com for further information.
6	The Annual Texas Japanese Speech Contest, sponsored by the Japanese Association of Greater Houston, the Japan Business Association of Houston, Japan American Society of Houston, and numerous other organizations, will be held at Herring Hall Auditorium (HE100), Rice University, beginning at 11:00 am.
6	A book reading event for Japanese speaking children will be held at the Sansuikai Center starting at 10:30 am. Contact the Sansuikai Center for further information, 281-493-1542.
9	The Houston Japanese Language Group meets at 7:00 pm at Sushi Miyagi on Bellaire Blvd. This is a great opportunity for students and native speakers to socialize and speak Japanese in a casual setting. Like other MeetUp events, this is organized using the MeetUp WWW site.
10	Cooking class SUSHI 101 will be taught at Central Market (Westheimer at Weslayan), 6:30 - 9:00 pm, by Chris Nemoto. Call 713-993-9860 for more information.
13	Start of 2nd session Japanese language classes by the Japan American Society of Houston. Contact the Japan American Society of Houston at 713-963-0121 for further information.
17	The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston, together with the Alamo Draft House, West Oaks holds a Japanese movie night, Gendai Japan, 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm. The films include "School Days with a Pig" and "Tokyo Sonata." Note that numerous reviews of these films can be found by an online search. This is a "free" event, although a reservation and $5 deposit are required via the Alamo Draft House, West Oaks WWW site, although the deposit can be redeemed for food at the event. The Houston Japanese Language Group will also be attending this event.
18	Sushi Club of Houston is scheduled to meet at 6:30 pm at Kubos in the Rice Village. Registration and an RSVP are absolutely required.
19	A park picnic event for Japanese speaking children will be held in the Houston area, starting at 11 am. Contact houstonplaydateclub (at) gmail.com for more information.
19	Japan Night takes place at the SXSW music conference in Austin, a relatively short drive from Houston. This year, at least seven bands will be featured.
20	The Houston Japanese Language Group meets at 6:30 pm at Sushi Jin for a Japanese Language Saturday Karaoke Party. Like other MeetUp events, this is organized using the MeetUp WWW site. An RSVP is required.
20	Class "Sushi & Sashimi" taught 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Leisure Learning as class no. T4210B. Call 713-529-4414 for more information.
26	A park Easter Egg Hunt event for Japanese speaking children will be held in the Houston area, starting at 11 am. Contact houstonplaydateclub (at) gmail.com for more information.
26	At 10:30 am, the Culture Kai grop of the Japan American Society of Houston presents an event called "Wine & Nibbles." Contact the Japan American Society of Houston at 713-963-0121 for further information.
26	Sushi Club of Houston is scheduled to meet at 6:30 pm at a private location for a sushi buffet and movie. Registration and an RSVP are absolutely required.
March 27th	Japanese Garden Beautification Day. Contact the Japanese Association of Greater Houston for further information if you would like to volunteer.
